大分県別府市で開発が進められてきた温泉の蒸気や熱水を利用して
電気を作る新しい技術、「湯けむり発電」の装置が完成し、装置を開発
したグループでは販売が認められしだい、本格的な発電を始める予定です。

「湯けむり発電」は、温泉の井戸から噴き出す蒸気と熱水でタービンを
回して発電する全国初の技術で、これまでの地熱発電に比べて場所を
取らず、設備投資も抑えられることから、新たな「地産地消」型の
発電装置として注目されています。
この技術について、大分県内の中小企業のグループが装置の開発を進め、
おととしから温泉地の別府市で発電出力を増やすための研究を続けて
います。
今回、完成した装置は幅がおよそ１メートル、高さは６０センチほどで、
出力は１０キロワットとこれまでの実験に比べて４倍以上の発電能力を
持つものが出来たということです。
グループによりますと、完成した装置１台で２０世帯分の電力を賄うこと
ができ、今後、さらに５０キロワット程度まで出力を上げていくという
ことです。
この装置は２６日から温泉井戸に据え付けられ、グループでは来月中旬
にも試運転を始め、販売などが電力会社や国から認められしだい、
本格的な発電を始める予定です。
装置を開発した企業の林正基社長は「さらに出力を増やしてたくさん
設置したいです」と話しています。
