作業する有貝さん多能工のひとり、入社15年目の有貝直人さん。この日は、まず鉄筋工としてマンションの３階部分を組んだかと思ったら、次の現場に移動。すぐにコンクリートをフロアに流し込んで・・・左官の仕事も。さらに元の現場に戻ると、今度はコンクリートを流し込む型枠を作る型枠工としてお仕事。有貝さんひとりで、なんと11もの主任者免許を持っています。しかもこの会社には有貝さんのような多能工が200人もいるんです。「うちの会社はひとつのものを流れで、すべての職種において出来るんで。モノを作るやりがいとか楽しさはやっぱりありますよね。（有貝さん）」
作業風景人材不足をものともしないこの会社。作る物件は、高級マンションのほか、店舗や注文住宅。高度な建築技術が求められる純和風の建物まで、何でもござれ。その技術力の高さで、なんと創業から25年、毎年右肩上がりの増収を続けています。
一方、日本の建設投資の額は、1992年の84兆円をピークに20年間下がり続け、2010年には、ついにピークの半分、42兆円にまでに。仕事量が減ったことで下請けの技能労働者は、転職や廃業などで331万人まで減少。ところが建設業界は、職人の技術継承に目を向けてこなかったと社長の秋元久雄さんは言います。"職人を育てる会社こそが業界を制する"。秋元さんはそう睨み、人へ投資する会社を立ち上げたのです。
